Holli & Edgar Martinez honored with UW College of Education Distinguished Service Award
On June 15th, Holli and Edgar Martinez were honored at the University of Washington College of Education’s graduation ceremony as winners of its Distinguished Service Award.
The UW College of Education Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to an individual or organization whose extraordinary service has advanced the UW College of Education’s mission and priorities. The honoree(s) will have distinguished themselves through exceptional leadership, contribution, or service to the educational community. The honoree’s professional, civic, personal, or philanthropic interests align with the UW College of Education’s central aim: To make an excellent education a daily reality for every child in every community. This is the highest honor bestowed upon a friend of the UW College of Education.
In his introductory remarks, Dean Tom Stritikus said, “We work together to make necessary change. Holli and Edgar Martinez are at the forefront of system-wide change in our community.” The UW College of Education’s leadership team feels strongly about the The Martinez Foundation’s mission and the way Holli and Edgar filled a critical gap. Holli addressed the new graduates as well, reminding them that they have a community that supports them and thanking them for their dedication to the teaching.
Congratulations to Holli and Edgar, and thank you very much to the University of Washington for being such strong supporters of our work!
